The team behind the Bradfield Village Hall project wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year.
We are eager to make this the year we see some significant changes at the village hall. As you are aware, we have embarked on a project to replace the original 70-year-old roof with a new insulated one. Additionally, this renovation project includes insulating the walls and upgrading the electrics and heating. The professionally estimated cost is £328,000. We are starting on a positive footing with just over £130K, which includes donations previously made, a grant from the Bradfield Parish Council, new donations and funds raised by events held by the Trustees of the hall.
Large grants are being applied for as of this writing and more events are in the pipeline. However, our immediate need is to raise £25,000 from donors like you so that we can match the grant offered to us from the Greenham Trust. For each £1 you donate, the Greenham Trust will donate £1 up to a maximum of £25,000.
Additionally, as the village hall is a charity (#1180330), we can reclaim 25p for every £1 donated, which increases the value of your donation by 25%.
The Greenham Trust runs a platform for donations from individuals and other grant bodies called “The Good Exchange”. This is the means by which we will be able to match your donation (and Gift Aid it, if applicable). As with other platforms like JustGiving, you will need to create an account (*).
The hall as it stands is running at a loss as we are losing hirers to more up-to-date halls. It really is just a matter of time before we have to close our doors for good. Our parish deserves a proper modern village hall, just like so many others now have. We sincerely thank you in anticipation for any donations you are able to make.
(*) If you would like to donate, but not happy creating an account (although it is safe!), you can make a bank transfer directly to the village hall account and we can apply it to The Good Exchange for you so it can be matched. Alternatively, you can send a cheque, which we can also match. Please email the Treasurer, Eva Roggenstein, at treasurer@bradfieldvillagehall.co.uk if you wish to take up either of these options. The treasurer will provide you with a Gift Aid form, if applicable.
